Rex Carr
Dr. Rex G. Carr, Jr., joined FOCUS as a Policy Analyst in June 2022, specializing in tracking and analysis of chemical, environmental, manufacturing, stewardship, oil and gas, and dairy industry issues. Rex enjoys conducting deep dive research and detail-oriented analysis for FOCUS clients.
Rex earned a Ph.D. in Political Science with a Major in International Relations and Minor in Political Theory from Baylor University in 2020, after having earned a master’s in political science in 2009. Before that, he graduated, summa cum laude, from the University of Maine with a bachelor’s in philosophy and political science. Prior to joining FOCUS, Rex was a professor of international politics at both Baylor and Gardner-Webb universities, as well as a substitute teacher and freelance editor.
Rex is described by friends as thoughtful, funny, and frustrated – character traits that keep our company Slack channels entertaining during the busy legislative season. Rex is obsessed with podcasts, intrigued by theology, and more than willing to watch anything Godzilla-related. In his youth, Rex once sang, a cappella, with Ben Harper – an experience he is happy to recreate (solo) for clients upon request.
